The race to be the valedictorian of the Vernon High School Class 2023 was a close one, with just six one-hundredths of a point between the valedictorian and Ivonne Guadalupe Perez, who is the Class of 2023 Salutatorian. Ivonne has a GPA of 4.81 on a scale of 5.0.
The 152 members of the VHS Class of 2023 will graduate during commencement exercises at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 27, at Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium.
Ivonne is the daughter of Salvador and Angelica Perez, and has a sister, Angelica, and two brothers, Angel and Salvador.
During her high school career, Ivonne made the A Honor Roll and was named Outstanding Psychology and Sociology student.
Ivonne’s plans after graduation are to attend the University of Texas in Austin majoring sociology. After receiving her bachelor degree, Ivonne wants to pursue a law degree and become an immigration lawyer.
