VHS seniors will have a new scholarship to apply for in the spring, as VISD Supt. Dr. Kermit Ward has announced the establishment of a scholarship in honor of his mother, Robbie Walker.
"This $3,000 scholarship, supported by both me and my dad, aims to support the higher education aspirations of a student hailing from single parent household," Dr. Ward, stated. "With immense gratitude for the sacrifices my mom made as a single parent, I want to ensure that her legacy lives on through empowering the next generation."
This scholarship seeks to provide financial assistance and opportunities to a deserving student who displays academic merit, community involvement, and a determined spirit.
"I believe this scholarship will make a lasting impact, just as my mother did in shaping my life. Lastly," Dr. Ward added, "I invite you to honor the memory of your loved one by starting a scholarship in their name, ensuring their legacy lives on through supporting the educational pursuits of these deserving VISD students within our community."
