During halftime of Tuesday night’s boys’ basketball game, the latest group of Vernon High School students to earn their college, career, and military readiness (CCMR) point were recognized and received a special t-shirt. One of the goals for the Vernon Independent School District is to improve on connecting VHS students to post-secondary opportunities. One way to do that is make earning a CCMR point a top priority.
Sixty-five students – 38 seniors and 27 juniors – were the latest to earn the CCMR point. So far this school year, 102 high school students have collected their CCMR point. Students earn their point by completing dual-credit courses; or earning a certification; or meeting TSI criteria via scores on the SAT, ACT, TSI-A, or College Prep Course in English and Math.
