Today, seniors can start picking up their diploma, transcript and, if ordered, graduation pictures at the VHS Office. Please remember the office is closed on Fridays. Office hours are 8 a.m. to Noon, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday thru Thursday.
Parents and Students of Class of 2025: The diplomas and graduation pictures are available for pickup at the high school. The school is open Monday - Thursday, 8am - 12pm and 1pm - 4pm.
GO!! FIGHT!! WIN!! Do you have a youngster who enjoys shaking pom-poms, jumping around, and cheering for their team? Well then, be sure and sign them up for the Sparkle & Shine Cheer Camp scheduled for July 9-11!! The camp is open to incoming kindergarten thru 6th grade students. There will be 2 sessions during the camp. Session 1 is for kindergarten thru 2nd grade students and will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Session 2 is for 3rd grade thru 6th grade students and will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration fee is $40. Four VHS tennis players -- Jonathan Medina, Nevan Schur, Courtney Saylor & Will Castleberry -- were named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Class 3A Super Elite Team for the 2024-25 school year!! All four collected medals at the UIL Class 3A State Singles & Doubles Tennis Tournament, with Jonathan & Nevan earning silver in Boys Doubles, and Courtney & Will earning bronze in Mixed Doubles.

Scores on the STAAR tests for students in grades 3-8 will be available next Tuesday, June 17.
Over 220 local and area youngsters and teens attended the Vernon Lions Summer Tennis Camp held last week. Campers from 3 years old to 18 were divided into three different sessions that filled the courts at the Ruben Vargas Tennis Complex and spilled over to courts at Vernon College. The 88th Oil Bowl weekend wraps up Saturday evening with the game that started it all -- football. Vernon will have 3 representatives on the West Team -- linebacker Javi Lopez, linebacker Nick Guzman, and offensive lineman Hilton Rodenberger. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls. Congratulations to Javi, Nick and Hilton for the selection to the Oil Bowl. Good luck!!
The 88th Oil Bowl weekend kicks off Friday evening with basketball games and continues Saturday afternoon with volleyball action and Vernon will be represented in the large school game. Lady Lion Key'Maria McBride, who signed to play volleyball at Ranger College, will be on the court playing for the East Team. The volleyball games start at 4 p.m., Saturday, at Memorial High School. Congratulations to Key'Maria for being selected to play in the Oil Bowl. Good luck!!

Mijah Johnson will be playing in the girls' game, while Adarius Williams will be playing in the boys' game. Basketball action tips off at 6 p.m., Friday, at Legacy High School with the girls' game, followed by the boys' game at 7:30 p.m. Congrats to Mijah and Adarius for being selected to play for the East team. During the summer, hours the general public can access to Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium will be 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday thru Thursday, and 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. Gates will continue to be locked on the weekends.
GRADUATION PICTURE DEADLINE!!
Members of the Class 2025, remember tomorrow is the deadline to pay for a picture of you receiving your diploma and a class photo.
Those graduation photos, along with your official transcript and your diploma may be picked up at the VHS office beginning on June 12. Summer office hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday thru Thursday. The office is closed on Fridays. If you're senior parent and you never saw a graduation photo order envelope, we have extra envelopes available in the office.
Vernon ISD uses a communication program called Rooms to help teachers and counselors provide information on students and class/school activities to parents. While we post items on our Facebook pages and website, Rooms is the best way to receive information about your student and activities that pertain to them. Do you like having fun, spiking a ball and helping students? Then mark June 7th on your calendar! That's the day the VHS cheerleaders are sponsoring a Co-ed Volleyball Tournament at D.O. Fulton Gym. Two Vernon Lady Lions -- Key'Maria McBride and Mijah Johnson -- will be taking their talents to the next level after signing college scholarships last week. Key'Maria will be playing volleyball and running track at Ranger College, while Mijah will be on the cheer team at Western Oklahoma State University. With all district teams now eliminated from the playoffs, District 7-3A has released all-district honors for the 2025 baseball season. Four Lions -- Julian Sauceda, Brinden Farrell, Ryan Fieldhouse, and Zack Harjo -- made the All-District 2nd Team, while Linden Farrell received honorable mention honors. Congratulations guys!!! The Lions and Lady Lions are being represented this week on the Texas All-Star teams for the Fellowship of Christian Athlete Texas vs. Oklahoma All-Star Games. Julian Sauceda is a member of the Texas All-Star baseball team, while Laurel Easley is a member of the Texas All-Star softball team. The Texas vs. Oklahoma softball game will begin at 6 p.m., Tuesday, while the baseball game will begin at 6:30 p.m. Both games will be played in Elgin, Okla., and will wrap up two days of all-star games. VHS cheerleader Yuleyka Ramirez will be cheering this week on the Texas All-Star cheerleading squad at the Fellowship of Christian Athlete Texas vs. Oklahoma All-Star Games. The cheerleaders will be cheering at today's volleyball game, tonight's football game, and tomorrow's softball and baseball games.
