
The Vernon Lions/Lady Lions Basketball Camp wrapped up its three-day run today. The camp began Tuesday, with the session for the younger campers being held in the morning these last three days. They all had fun and enjoyed learning and improving on their basketball fundamentals.











The Boys & Girls Club of Vernon's 6th Annual Back to School Bash is right around the corner! The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 5, at the Boys & Girls Club. The event will including handing out free school supplies, back-to-school clothing, and other back-to-school services including health screenings, haircuts and more. Food vendors will also be on hand, and there will also be fun games, music and entertainment. Make plans to attend on Aug. 5!!


We suspended online registration and enrollment for the 2025-26 school year earlier this week and, unfortunately, it is still suspended at this time. When we resume online registration and enrollment for the upcoming school year we will make an announcement. Thank you for understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience.


As of today we are exactly 7 weeks away from the first day of school!!! We know some families start planning early, so below is the school supply list for our McCord students. We look forward to seeing all of their bright shining faces on Aug. 13.


After wet field conditions forced the Vernon Lions Baseball Camp to push the dates of the camp to late last week, the baseball camp and Vernon Lady Lions Softball Camp combined for one big camp. Youngsters learned and practiced the fundamentals common to both sports, and then broke into smaller groups and worked on sports specific skills. The camp wrapped up Saturday morning.

The Champs Volleyball Camp held at D.O. Fulton Gym wrapped up its 3-day run yesterday. Campers ranging from pre-kindergarteners to 8th graders worked to learn the game and improve their volleyball skills all while having fun.

Vernon ISD is holding a public meeting on the district's 2025-26 proposed state and federal budgets on Monday, June 23, in the boardroom at the Vernon ISD Administrative Building. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m., and is open to the public.

Due to the Lions Baseball Camp moving to June 19-21, the same dates as the Lady Lion Softball Camp, the two camps are going to be combined. They will break out into sport-specific drills during the camp. The starting time for both camps will be 10 a.m.
