Tomorrow it is Donuts With Dad here at McCord Elementary!! Whether you're a dad, grandpa, uncle, or other male role model for a student, you're invited to join us tomorrow and enjoy a donut with your little one!! First grade students in our Gifted & Talented Program held their showcase today where they presented information on their last project of the year. For the project, each student selected an animal to research. The students made a booklet about their animal that included what country they live in and what food they like to eat. Along with the booklet, the students also made a powerpoint presentation with information on their animal. Mrs. Jennifer McIntosh is the teacher for our GT Program.
Kindergarten students in our Gifted & Talented Program held a showcase this morning and gave a presentation on what they had learned while studying the water cycle. The students presented information on rainbows, the different type of clouds and on how the water cycle works. They also made cloud viewers to help them focus on clouds and know what type of cloud they were viewing. Mrs. Jennifer McIntosh is the teacher for the GT Program.
Teacher Appreciation Week wraps up tomorrow and our community continues to show up in big ways!! Today, Walmart partnered with McCord PTO to generously provide delicious cookies and a meat tray for our McCord teachers. We are incredibly thankful for the continued love and support our amazing educators receive from this community!
Our McCord cafeteria was full this morning with students enjoying breakfast muffins with their moms. There were big smiles all around. We appreciate all the moms, grandmoms, aunts, and friends who joined their little one for breakfast. You made their day!!

This is National Nurses Week and today is School Nurse Day! VISD has three exceptional nurses at our campuses -- Jennifer Walker, Rhonda Garrett and Shawna Sanders. They do an outstanding job caring for our students and our staff, and we can't thank them enough for all they do at our campuses.

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and today, First Presbyterian Church generously provided snack and charcuterie boxes from Texas Eats & Sweets for all VISD teachers. We have some amazing teachers, and we are truly grateful for the support and kindness shown to them by our community.
We will be hosting our Muffins With Mom event this Thursday, May 8. The event will start at 7 a.m. Our students always have the biggest smiles when family members join them for an event at school. Please join your child and enjoy a quick muffin with them. We bet your Thursday will be a great one if you start it with us.

We just heard -- our state medalist tracksters will be here a little after 5 p.m. Line Wilbarger and let them know how much support they had and how proud we are of them as they are led down Wilbarger by our Vernon PD, Vernon FD, and Wilbarger County Sheriff's Office. Then follow them to the fieldhouse and congratulation them!
Get ready to welcome back our State Track & Field Medalists!! They will be escorted down Wilbarger by Vernon Police & Fire Departments, as well as the Sheriff's Office! Wave, honk your horns and follow them on to the VHS Fieldhouse. They should arrive at approximately 3:45 p.m. That time is tentative. As soon as we have a definite time we will repost. Keep a lookout. We have 7 state medalists!!!
