
We would love to have the home stands packed Friday night when our Lions tangle with the Jim Ned Indians in a HUGE district showdown. It is also Senior Recognition Night for members of the cheerleader squad, band and football team.


Our Lions defeated the Iowa Park Hawks 48-27 Friday night in a big District 3-3A, Division 1 battle. Selected as Players of the Game were: Offensive MVP -- Kale Sherrill; Defensive MVP -- Adrian Felton; Special Teams MVP -- Jamari Chance; Big Stick -- Julius Dawkins; Hall Hawk -- Tru Gipson; Lion Heart Award -- Johnny Pruitt; Boss Hog -- Ismail Urista; and Best Blocker -- Jamari Chance. Congratulations to these young men and all of our Lions!! Job Well Done! Your photo will be displayed on the digital sign at VHS and the Administrative Center this week.

Our Lady Lions travel to Bowie on Saturday for their final District 7-3A road match. JV action starts at 11 a.m., with the varsity set to get underway at Noon.

Today in Ms. Kia Dixon's Algebra class students did a black light scavenger hunt as a way to study direct variation.








Next week is Red Ribbon Week and the theme this year is "Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug-Free." VHS has something planned for every day next week as they take part in the national drug awareness campaign.


Pack the stands tonight and make some noise cheering on the Lions against Iowa Park in a HUGE District 3-3A battle!! And, along with our Roarin' Lion Band performing at halftime, our VES students will be performing a dance routine as well.

The student groups put a trifold together with the information they had collected on their Hispanic person and the Spanish speaking country they had selected to research. After viewing the displays today, other VHS students were able to vote on their favorite trifold display. The students are in Ms. Patricia Barrera's Spanish 1 classes.

The Spanish 1 classes celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month today by displaying the project the students had been working on for about 3 weeks. Students researched and learned the importance and the meaning of the celebration. Then, students were put into groups and picked an Hispanic person to do a report on and also selected one of the 21 Spanish speaking countries to do a report on. The student groups put a trifold together with the information they had collected. After viewing the displays today, other VHS students were able to vote on their favorite trifold display. 49 VHS seniors are in the PE Gym today taking the ACT. Vernon ISD provides for our students to take the ACT at no charge.


Lady Lions hit the road to Iowa Park today for a big District 7-3A battle with the Lady Hawks.


On Monday, the Lions cited as MVPs in Vernon's victory over Breckenridge in their District 3-3A, Div. 1 game Friday night received special Game Balls from Tiffany Rosalez, an agent for the local Texas Farm Bureau office led by Toby Kitchens. Players receiving special footballs were: Offensive MVPs - Andrew Hernandez, Ismael Urista, Keigan Ballard, Christian Gallegos, Alex Rivera (the offensive line) and Jevon Fanner; Special Teams MVP - Javy Lopez; and Defensive MVP - Shyne Rodriguez.
