While we encourage parents to enroll/register their child online, we will have an in-person enrollment/registration day on Wednesday, July 30, in the cafeteria at Vernon Elementary School. The in-person enrollment/registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and continue until 12:30 p.m. It will resume at 1:30 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m.
Parents enrolling new students to the Vernon Independent School District must bring the student's: birth certificate; shot record; proof of residency; proof of ID and/or social security card.

Don't forget!! The Boys & Girls Club of Vernon's Back To School Bash is happening Tuesday, Aug. 5!!! School supplies will be handed out and there will also be food vendors, fun games, entertainment and more!! Mark your calendar!!

The Vernon Lions Football Camp kicked off today and will conclude on Wednesday. If you have a youngster from kindergarten thru 9th grade who didn't make it out today, it's not too late!!! Bring them on out to Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium tomorrow. The camp starts at 8:30 a.m. and is over at 11 a.m.

We are 3 weeks away from the start of the 2025-26 school year. In case you want to get a head start on your shopping, here is the supply list for our 9th thru 12th graders.

If you have not picked up your diploma, we strongly encourage you to stop by the VHS Office and pick it up. If you are unable to come by, a family member can pick it up for you. The office is open 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday thru Thursday.

In just 7 weeks the Vernon Lions kick off their 2025 season!
Our cheerleaders are already hard work on plans to keep that Lion spirit strong all year long!! They have already set the pep rally theme for all 10 regular season games, and the theme for Homecoming Week. The homecoming game is set for Oct. 10.
Get those creative juices flowing!

Our Lady Lion volleyball players take the court for two-a-days on August 1 and the night before it's their parent's turn! A parent meeting for all volleyball players -- high school and middle school -- will be held three weeks from tonight, Thursday, July 31, at D.O. Fulton Gym. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Lady Lions Head Coach Amber Hall will go over important information and answer questions.

We're just 16 days away from the VHS Youth Football Camp, which will be held July 21-23 at Leo Brittain Field at Lion Stadium. The camp is open to area youngsters in kindergarten thru 9th grade. Registration fee is $30. To register, please follow this link: https://forms.gle/BQN7VfaiKDcyHJwp9

Our VHS European Tour Group has been busy! Yesterday they traveled to Normandy, France. They saw the beach, which was divided into 5 sections -- Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword -- during the Allied Invasion. They also went to the American Cemetery at Normandy and located the grave of Billy Harris, a Vernon native who was killed in action. Today, they made their way to the Notre Dame Cathedral.

We're just 30 days away from the start of the 2025 Vernon Lady Lion volleyball season!! Head Coach Amber Hall has announced a Volleyball Parent Meeting will be held Thursday, July 31, at D.O. Fulton Gym. The meeting is for parents of BOTH high school and junior high volleyball players. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Please mark your calendar and make plans to attend.

If you're an incoming 7th, 9th or 11th grader and plan on participating in any sport, or band, during the 2025-26 school year, you must have a sports physical before you will be allowed to participate. Also, any student who participated in sports last year and suffered a major injury will need a new sports physical. If you haven't gotten your sports physical yet, here's a great opportunity, so mark your calendar.

We firmly believe Vernon ISD has some outstanding administrators and when they are recognized by others, it just confirms what we already know. Congratulations to Vernon High School Principal Dr. Cynthia Jackson for being named the TASSP Region IX High School Principal of the Year for the 2024-25 school year! The honor is well deserved.

Our VHS Europe tour group enjoyed London the last couple of days. They saw Big Ben and Westminster Abbey, and other wonderful sites.

This morning a group of 29, including VHS students and parents, and VHS teachers, left on a trip to Europe. The group will make stops in London, Normandy, Paris, Bastogne, Cologne, and Berlin. Wishing them a lot of fun and safe travels.

The Boys & Girls Club of Vernon's 6th Annual Back to School Bash is right around the corner! The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 5, at the Boys & Girls Club. The event will including handing out free school supplies, back-to-school clothing, and other back-to-school services including health screenings, haircuts and more. Food vendors will also be on hand, and there will also be fun games, music and entertainment. Make plans to attend on Aug. 5!!

We suspended online registration and enrollment for the 2025-26 school year earlier this week and, unfortunately, it is still suspended at this time. When we resume online registration and enrollment for the upcoming school year we will make an announcement. Thank you for understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience.

As of today we are exactly 7 weeks from the start of a new school year!! To help those families that like to get a head start on planning for the new school year, we've posted the VHS school supply list below. These are generic supplies. Students will learning the specific supplies they need for their classes on Meet The Teacher Night or the first day of school. We look forward to seeing all of our returning students and our new students on Aug. 13. 2025-26 is going to be a great school year!!

After wet field conditions forced the Vernon Lions Baseball Camp to push the dates of the camp to late last week, the baseball camp and Vernon Lady Lions Softball Camp combined for one big camp. Youngsters learned and practiced the fundamentals common to both sports, and then broke into smaller groups and worked on sports specific skills. The camp wrapped up Saturday morning.
