There was nighttime attire all around at D.O. Fulton Gym this morning, but it was everything but a sleepy atmosphere at the Lions Pride Pep Rally. The theme for the pep rally was "Put Those Panthers To Sleep", but our Lions were anything but ready to take a nap!!! Congrats to the Junior Class as they won the Class Yell competition.

On Thursday, our CNA students participated in Cultural Diversity Day! They have been studying the relation between how diverse America is in culture and how communication efforts as a healthcare worker can be affected by a lack of knowledge and hinder the care those in health care offer patients and residents. Being up to date on a wide variety of cultures can help those in health care offer better care to patients and residents as well as improve outcomes during rehabilitation and promoting quality of life. Each student was assigned a culture and had to provide information on how it relates to healthcare including some general background information, common diseases/diagnosis, diet habits within the culture, medical treatments offered, types of medications offered, the type of long term care that may be offered as well as end of life preferences for each culture. All of the students did a great job researching and presenting their information. To top it off, the class held a potluck lunch where each student made one food or drink item from their culture. All the food was PHENOMENAL! They hope to be able to provide exceptional care to their patients in the future!
